This classic USB microphone bridges the gap between mid-range USB audio adapters and professional products that require additional drivers, special software and/or excessive cabling. The C01U is USB compatible with any Mac or PC, as well as most DAW software programs. Its superior ability to produce pristine audio recordings with ease and mobility, along with the included desktop mic stand, mic clip, USB cable and carrying case, make the C01U a valuable addition to any studio. As you can see from the graph, the on-axis response is commendably flat, with a gentle rise of around 3–4 dB at 10 kHz—this gives the mic a nice sense of detail on voices and instruments (like acoustic guitar), and is inline with the response of most vocal condensers. Directionality is as advertised, and the mic did a good job of rejecting room noise. The USB connection It has a very nice build, is made of metal, and feels solid in your hand 🙂 Some have complained that it leaves a rather large footprint on your desk, because of the fact that it stands about a foot tall. Pros Other than the stand issue, this version also has a latency problem that is resolved with the pro model. A lot of people were saying that it’s really sensitive, but they had a hard time using EQ to positive effect. The distinct humming, distortion, and noise when the volume is turned up present problems as well, and it’s said to not have headroom. Headroom basically enables you to record without distortion, noise, hissing, and clipping, as well as a compressed or lifeless sound. You may have to record with this mic at slightly lower levels. Based on a large-diaphragm Chinese-built capsule, the mic is very nicely styled and cleanly engineered, with a choice of supercardioid, omni or figure-of-eight polar patterns. Supercardioid is a bit of an odd choice for studio work, but looking at the supplied polar plots indicates that it isn't too tight — very narrow cardioid patterns can be problematic if you're working with a singer who moves around a lot.

Both have a pretty similar sound and compete heavily with each other. Many people say they prefer the Yeti’s sound over the CO1U. You be the judge! I just spent several days testing out the new Samson C01U Pro USB studio condenser microphone. All the details are below. But first, let’s talk about what a USB microphone is. Okay, let’s get to the important stuff. How does it sound? Well I have always been a fan of the C01U and its sound quality. I made several recordings of the Pro to help judge how good it sounds. Noise Micro thu âm Samson C01U ProThích hợp sử dụng trực để thu âm,livestream, ghi âm nhạc, công việc, giọng nói, lồng ghép âm cho video .... Finally, it has some compatibility issues as well, and the Cakewalk software isn’t very intuitive. Most everyone said just use Audacity. One reviewer said it best, there is the Windows camp that loves this mic, and the Mac users who hate it. In a nutshell:Basically, a standard microphone (3-pin/”XLR” connector) needs extra electronics and a way to plug it into a computer. You use an interface box for that. An interface provides phantom power (condenser mics need 48v of power), conversion of sound to digital format, and preamplification (“preamps”). And though this is not truly a fair comparison, here is the same voiceover recorded with my Rode/Scarlett 2i2 combo (a setup that costs more than 4 times what the Samson costs). Samson CO1U Pro. This is an updated version of the mic and improves on a lot of the shortcomings of the CO1UCW as mentioned above. Samson shoe-horned a headphone amp into the compact C01U Pro microphone. You get real time zero-latency monitoring while recording. No more external headphone amps or plugging into different, and lagged, sources. The C01U Pro's integrated headphone amp makes this a complete recording outfit that's perfect for space-restricted studios and musicians on the go. Quality microphone based on popular C01U Needs to be plugged directly into a USB port on your laptop/computer. Some say it doesn’t do well plugged into a separate USB hub. The Samson C03 is a smart-looking mic with multi-pattern performance at a budget price. Its technical spec is more than adequate in all the areas that are important, and what really matters is that it makes a fine job of just about anything you care to point it at. Photo: Mark Ewing Nevertheless, subjective testing suggests that the tonality does stay nominally similar, provided that you remain close to the mic's axis, regardless of which pattern is selected. The high end of the omni pattern will inevitably change as you move off axis, especially with a large-diaphragm capsule such as this one. Smart Performer First, I wanted to compare the noise levels between the original C01U and the new Pro. So below are samples of JUST noise. Listen in headphones to get the full effect. Just noise from Original C01U Just noise from C01U Pro This is a really popular mic and for good reason. Standing about a foot tall on your desk, it’s got a great sound, is really solid, reliable, and most importantly it’s convenient. I know many of you don’t really want to bother with the whole XLR setup. You just want to be able to plug and play. If that sounds like you, then this may be a great option. What is XLR? Best in voice-over type applications: pod-casting, you-tube videos, spoken word, video tutorials, and live commentary.

A new mic from Samson offers true capacitor design and multi-pattern operation at an extremely affordable price. Photo: Mark EwingThe quoted input noise is a reasonable, but by no means exceptional, 23dBA EIN, and in normal project-studio applications is certainly low enough to be considered negligible. At 10mV/Pa, the sensitivity is roughly comparable with many other studio capacitor mics, possibly just a decibel or two less, and the frequency curve is nominally flat for all patterns, with the exception of a gentle presence peak centred at around 7kHz. With the pad switched in, the mic can put up with SPLs of up to 142dB without flinching, and the specified frequency response is from 40Hz to 18kHz at the -3dB points. I feel the low-cut filter is best not used for vocal recording, as it noticeably affects the bottom end of the vocal range. It could be useful when using the mic as a drum overhead, though, as it often helps to roll off the bass when mixing the sound in with the predominantly middly and bassy close mics. This is one of the best options you can go with if you’re looking to record with skype, doing any pod-casting, you-tube videos, video conferencing, and anything similar. I wouldn’t recommend it much for vocals, although it can be done. The 4 different polar patterns, its rugged build, and remarkable versatility make it an affordable and valuable option… Similarities & Differences Similarities

Micro thu âm Samson C01U Prođược trang bị thêm dải đèn LED để giúp người dùng có thể nhận biệt được micro đang được sử dụng nguồn Although unashamedly entry-level, the C01U is quiet and clean enough to record vocals and instruments to a very acceptable standard, provided that they are close-miked, and its performance is well above that of any multimedia mics I've tested. As far as I can tell, the subjective performance of this mic is essentially the same as that of its wired counterpart, and that model has sold well for Samson. The digital noise issue will be a concern if you have a G5 tower-based studio system, but it could be argued that anyone with such a deluxe computer should be looking for a more sophisticated mic anyway! But a USB mic needs none of that. All of that stuff is inside the mic. And the power comes from the USB connection. You just plug the mic directly into your computer and you’re ready to record. The best thing about it is the signal-to-noise ratio! I have the original version of the Samson C01U, and the hiss from the mic is quite loud. It CAN be removed with noise reduction fairly easily, since it was a steady consistent noise. But it would be much better to prevent it in the first place. And with the C01U Pro, Samson has almost completely gotten rid of that hiss!
