So yes, the book will make me think about what I eat but I don't feel I have enough information really to comment on the diet which is recommended. It does seem to take a holistic approach and also consider the impact of sleep and stress on the functioning of the body. Children under the age of 11 should have less saturated fat than adults, but a low-fat diet is not suitable for children under 5.

Try to include at least 1 starchy food with each main meal. Some people think starchy foods are fattening, but gram for gram the carbohydrate they contain provides fewer than half the calories of fat. I've learnt so much from Megan, looking after my gut is now a priority and I feel so good for it. She's a huge inspiration to us' - Ella Mills, author and founder of Deliciously Ella Be mindful: Pay attention to why you’re drinking. Are you filling an emotional or physical need? Hunger, stress? Being mindful of why leads to healthier choices. For a healthier choice, use a small amount of vegetable or olive oil, or reduced-fat spread instead of butter, lard or ghee. Adults and children aged 11 and over should eat no more than 6g of salt (about a teaspoonful) a day. Younger children should have even less. After all,a healthy diet can help reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke and lots of other things you’d rather avoid. The good news is, eating right doesn’t have to be hard or require you to give up all of the foods you love.

I tried working with other healthcare providers who told me to go on elimination diets and told me I had food intolerances when I in fact did not. Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts found in fermented foods and some dairy products. Perhaps you’ve come across a few of these “Insta-famous” foods? I’ve learnt so much from Megan, looking after my gut is now a priority and I feel so good for it‘– Ella Mills, founder of Deliciously EllaEdit: remember that this is a book, and therefor will not be the same as personalised nutrition care available between a dietitian and their patient/client. Individuals with diagnosed medical conditions should always seek out the appropriate medical professional or patient-centred care. You need to drink plenty of fluids to stop you getting dehydrated. The government recommends drinking 6 to 8 glasses every day. This is in addition to the fluid you get from the food you eat. In this review, we delve into Megan Rossi’s book, ‘Love Your Gut,’ which serves as a guide through this intricate terrain. Rossi, an expert in gut health, navigates readers through insights, strategies, and practical approaches to enhance gut health. Plan something for the next day: Avoid overdoing it by making morning plans. To honour your commitment, you’ll turn down just one more drink to turn in early instead. Alcohol adds extra calories, makes you hungry, affects your sleep and can give you a sore head in the morning if you overdo it. There’s no denying that alcohol should be limited as part of a healthy diet. Annie Grace, author of The Alcohol Experiment, offers the following tips on how to manage your intake.

Alongside Dr Rossi's gut-friendly recipes, Eat Yourself Healthy also includes expert advice on how to deal with common complaints such as IBS and bloating, diagnose food intolerances, and manage good gut health with sleep and exercise routines. Organic Food Fact vs Perception- Many shoppers assume organic products are more nutritious and safer to eat, but these perceptions are based more on hype than hard science. Chia and hemp seeds: Unlike other seeds, they contain all eight essential amino acids, making them ‘complete’ proteins. They’re also excellent sources of alpha-linolenic acid, a type of omega-3 fat. Eating a healthy, balanced diet is an important part of maintaining good health, and can help you feel your best. As well as eating healthily, regular exercise may help reduce your risk of getting serious health conditions. It's also important for your overall health and wellbeing. The theory is that our bodies are designed to digest and absorb food most efficiently during a relatively short period of each day; then repair itself and burn stored fat when we fast. ‘It’s not known at the moment whether there is an optimum window or how critical timing is. However, having less opportunity to eat does seem to lead to less food intake, even in those not consciously trying to lose weight,’ explains Dr Denise Robertson, researcher at the University of Surrey. Her pilot study in 2018 found that people who delayed their usual breakfast time by 90 minutes, and brought their usual dinner time forward by 90 minutes for 10 weeks lost more body fat than those who ate to whatever schedule they liked. Megan Rossi, PhD, RD, known as the Gut Health Doctor, holds a prominent position as one of the globe’s foremost experts in gut health. Get Smart About Superfoods Infographic- So-called “superfoods” alone won’t make you healthier – but adding these nutritious foods to an already balanced diet can bring health benefits.
