About this deal

The 778X’s power amp stage is a Class AB design incorporating a low-noise 200VA toroidal transformer. This is followed by 2x 15,000uF reservoir capacity (30,000uF in total) while the amp’s output from its gold-plated speaker terminals is rated at 45W into 8ohm and 65W into 4 ohm. The preamp section’s line input signals pass to a precision, microprocessor-controlled analogue volume stage. After running in for the first day at low volume, I went ahead with a Listening test from the phono stage, then Bluetooth and a wired input at various volumes. With known good recording inputs, the result was a refined and smooth sound, with clarity and detail without fatigue. The bass was deep, rich, punchy and really controlled, even at high volumes of 10 plus.

They gave me the same feeling that the Mission m32i did when I first brought them home. They made all of my music sound brand new. They were a game changer for me and while their greatness may have been unseated by the MA Silver 300 7g’s, they are still number one in this household until I can spring for a pair of the 300s. Please note that our couriers will try to deliver as arranged but we will not be held responsible for any costs incurred because of non-delivery or factors introduced by third-parties. This service is based upon best endeavour and is not guaranteed. Around the time that I celebrated my Bar Mitzvah in 1983, British loudspeaker manufacturer, Mission, introduced its first integrated amplifier — the Mission 778. The 778 wasn’t ground breaking and it’s probably accurate to say that the industrial design was inspired by the earliest Naim amplifiers of the 1970s that featured a rather compact, half-width chassis. Wireless streaming comes by way of Bluetooth for audio streaming from smartphones, tablets and the like, with support for multiple codecs, including aptX and AAC. Streaming options include AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast and Bluetooth 5.0. Cambridge’s proprietary StreamMagic streaming module also lies at the MXN10’s heart – which, with the accompanying app, acts as a control centre for streaming from your smartphone. The speakers’ 13cm midrange and 25cm bass drivers are also now made from Kevlar. The midrange unit is doubly interesting as it’s further housed in its enclosure. This is apparently to ensure the mid frequencies aren't affected by vibrations from the larger bass driver. Both units are further damped using acoustic foam and long hair fibre, and the bass reportedly reaches a depth of 25Hz. The Mission 778X ’s all round performance is engaging, detailed and refined. Detail, timing and dynamics excel, regardless of source or medium. Designed for the modern-day music enthusiast with a nod to their heritage, the Mission 778X does not discriminate when it comes to expression and enjoyment of your music reproduction. GENERAL The 778X's power amp stage is a Class AB design incorporating a low-noise 200VA toroidal transformer, followed by a 2x15000uF reservoir capacity (30000uF in total). The amp's output is “conservatively rated” at 45W into eight ohms and 65W into four ohms.

The NSC 222 is Naim’s attempt to offer buyers a gateway into streaming services such as Tidal, Spotify, Apple Music and Qobuz – though it can also function as an internet radio and networked music player. As an added perk, the NSC 222 can also connect to a record player thanks to its built-in MM phono stage. The convenience of streaming music from smart devices, such as phones, tablets or PCs have never sounded so good Digital sources connected through the USB, coaxial and optical inputs, or paired for Bluetooth reception, take full advantage of the 778X’s built-in hi-res DAC. This is based around the ES9018K2M chipset from the Sabre32 Reference family, enabling the amp to benefit from ESS Technology’s 32-bit HyperStream architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator to deliver excellent dynamic range and ultra-low distortion. Hi-res PCM is supported to 32-bit/384kHz, alongside DSD to 11.2 MHz (DSD256).Large Appliances - (Washing Machines, Dishwashers, Fridge Freezers etc). Free Local Delivery Service (Cumbria, SW Scotland and NE England*) 2-3 working days. Complementing the RCA line inputs are digital and coax connection options and a built-in Bluetooth receiver that supports the aptX and AAC codecs. In the world of digital music files, this means the 778X offers class-leading, ultra-low noise digital audio file compatibility, with a sampling rate of up to 384kHz (PCM) and DSD256! In any case, I have a heart for anything Mission. And I find myself drawn to the brand and its product lineup to this day.
