Yet it feels like all of this was an excuse to get to the final act, which suddenly explodes into the kind of insane, balls-to-the-wall life you would expect from a modern videogame. And if only the rest of the film had been like this... a huge set piece involving duelling, flying pirate galleons suddenly remembers what makes the videogames so beloved. It dispenses with almost all the narrative and certainly all of the logic (or what had passed for logic) of the previous 90 minutes and just focuses on being a hugely fun series of action beats. It’s teeming with energy, with wit and it works where the rest of the film didn’t: it feels like its own beast, an adventure driven by huge set pieces and less about a narrative we’ve seen hundreds of times before, and if only there had been more of this, the film would have stood a chance of being remembered for what it wanted to be rather than simply what it was inspired by. Deleted Scenes (HD, 11 Mins.) - There are eight different scenes, most of which are either alternate or extended scenes that were kept out for time and other reasons.

Anyone who has seen any of the behind-the-scenes material on the Tom Holland Spider-Man films will be aware that he does a lot of his own stunts. That continues here, and it is clear that he is a very capable stunt performer. However, with his executive producer hat on he does spew some terrible PR drivel. In general, everyone does a great job in the film, and making it work even when things get a bit fantastical. What I liked best, however, is that they managed to tell a story that feels like Uncharted, but doesn’t necessarily have to fit within the games. Technically speaking, this story could easily serve as a prequel to the games, and all the pieces (generally) fit. But it doesn’t have to. It does enough to set itself apart that I could see them doing more adventures without being hampered by the game canon. He gets a surprise visit from Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg), a “professional” treasure hunter who claims to have known Nathan’s brother. Victor claims that the two were close to finding a stash of gold, potentially worth billions of dollars, that was lost by Magellan (yes, that one) nearly 500 years earlier. Victor wants Nathan to help him finish what they started, though doing this will require stopping Santiago Moncada (Antonio Banderas), a wealthy businessman looking for the same treasure.
