About this deal

Loving Thayer isn’t a choice. It just is. Loving him is natural, automatic, just like my body’s need to breathe air.” The beginning brings us six years after the end of the last book and Salem has returned to be with her dying mother.

Instead what we got is her falling for him so easily despite everything. Him loving her so easily. Her cheating on her boyfriend so easily. Her going to her boyfriend and breaking up with him so easily…only for him to accept it all so easily. Her whole relationship with the guy is just too easy and too chill and everybody is so okay and so chill to the point that I just thought that it was all weird and annoying. Throughout this was an emotion rollercoaster. It’s interesting how much Salem endured but still managed to shine. While comparatively Thayer’s life honestly seemed less complicated and he didn’t endure it as well. made a home gym for salem to work out in, so she wouldn't go out for late-night runs by herself! (he also ran with her at first)

Throughout this was an emotion rollercoaster. It’s interesting how much Salem endured but By the end of book one I was in desperate need of answers, so the minute I could get my hands on this book I devoured every word. We’re smiling. We’re thriving. That’s the true test of a person— the beauty they’re able to find in the simple things. In the wildflowers that bloom and blossom freely. In the bees that pollinate our earth. In the sound of the wind rustling the leaves. Those are the things that matter. This. Us.”

Now I'm paying the price of that and the only thing that can make me feel better in this moment is to get me book two right now!!! The Confidence Of Wildflowers is not your typical forbidden steamy romance. This was the story about two people who found the best in each other and decided that they were worth it. Their past didn't matter and in their own way, they helped each other healed. This was a slow burn addictive story that showed you all of the sides to loving and being in love with someone that you didn't see coming. It heartwarming, sweet, sexy, charming and when you least expected it, it tugged on your heartstrings and made you appreciate life even more. And after all this, after she finally tells him the truth at 30%, nothing really happens for the final 70%. It’s basically one long epilogue. No angst. No conflict. Nothing. So it was really all for nothing. Which makes me wish that this story had ended in book one and I could have avoided all this unnecessary drama and frustration. TWs: Cancer, Death, Childhood Sexual Abuse (father), Cheating (their first time she is still with her BF) No matter what conditions look like around you—keep on believing, keep on persisting—keep on going—keep on growing. Just like wildflowers grow wherever they choose, no matter the conditions—be and be becoming all that you were created to be and become.” tw// childhood sexual abuse (heroines dad to her), cancer (heroines mum), death of a child (heroes son), cheating (heroine has a bf)Instead of a review, let’s look at some data. Here is a list of stuff mentioned in the book and the number of times that thing appears: The story revolves around Salem, an eighteen-year-old navigating the uncertain waters of young adulthood. Her life takes an unexpected turn when Thayer Holmes, a grumpy landscaper, moves in next door and offers her a job as a nanny for his adorable son. What follows is a passionate and unconventional love story that defies societal norms due to a significant age gap. Who we used to be doesn’t matter, it’s who we are now, what’s in our hearts that matters most. You’re sunshine, Salem, but even the sun doesn’t always shine.” The Confidence of Wildflowers” is a modern masterpiece, a powerful novel that can be read on its own. This novel is written by Micalea Smeltzer. She is a true storyteller, and The Confidence of Wildflowers is her best book. It’s an epic tale of family, secrets, loss, marriage, betrayal, friendships, laughter, and regrets. The Confidence of Wildflowers is a heartfelt novel written with compassion and hope, reconciling the past to pave a road to happiness and second chances. The characters in this novel bring life and heart to this story, each with a distinct voice and personality. They stepped down into the quiet valley that smelled like all of summer crushed into a single flower.”

I do wish there had been some more time before Salem and Thayer got involved romantically/sexually. I felt their connection wasn’t fully developed and felt very insta love and a little silly? It felt like Salem had a crush and Thayer was entertaining that crush just so he could get some. You’re allowed to be upset, Salem.” His voice is soft, more gentle than usual. “You’re allowed to feel. Don’t let anyone ever let you think otherwise.” I felt absolutely heartbroken when her mother confesses that she has breast cancer, but I was glad when she survived the chemo and surgery though it seemed unfair for a woman who went through hell to have to go through this too. Staring at his once emaciated form in the casket puffed up with fillers and whatever magic the mortician worked, I didn’t cry. There was sadness through some part of the book, but in the end everything was alright. Their love was just epic. I am glad that somehow Thayer was the instigator of the love this time and that he decided to be happy once one for all. After all Salem was his one and true love.Salem married the man she had originally cheated on (in book) ONE YEAR after the final fallout with Thayer Additionally, the age gap between Salem and Thayer, a central theme of the book, could have been explored with more depth and complexity. While their connection was undeniably heartwarming, it sometimes felt like Thayer did not fully embody his age due to his actions and choices, which made the age gap less noticeable than expected.
